Our purpose is to empower youth to make change in their community, and give them the resources to do so.

Youth Startup Lab is an after-school experiential food entrepreneurship learning program delivered in youth centers. Cohorts of 5-10 youth of color aged 12-15 amplify their entrepreneurial mindset by designing a food business with their peers. At the end of the 10-week program the team presents their product to the local community.

Activities are designed to explore four key aspects of the entrepreneurial mindset: maturity, leadership, collaboration, and perseverance, while also building business acumen, cooking skills, and other hard skills.

Youth Startup Lab is delivered presently by Civil Labs Foundation in partnership with East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC).
